You extend the OP to higher levels. Which surely shows the fundamental differences to the West. Certainly sooner or later one will jump into this thread complaining about "generalizing" West against East again. To me it's 's not difficult to see. Yes, there are the odd exceptions, but as I gather, the famous needle in the hay.

Having the looks & being physically perfect is completely overrated in most developed countries.

As for money, that seems to be important on either site. Maybe worldwide, but I haven't travelled all parts, so I can't make this statement for sure.

Maybe not, but regardless, I think he makes a lot of good points. The stories of the LOS that the servicemen found back in the 70's are legendary. It's nothing like that now.

Only 4 years ago, I had two different girls, who would wash me, then get down on their knees and dry me with the towel from head to toe, then powder me from my feet up, also. Let me tell you, you can have the girls who tell you to f*ck off, because that kind of treatment was simply wonderful. The one I spent several weeks with would hand me my razor, put the toothpaste on my toothbrush, cook my meals, run to the store for beer, and generally treated me like a king. She would also run the bath water for me in the tub and get it just the temperature I liked it, then we would get in the tub and wash each other, and you can just imagine what other things we did when we got all soapy and slippery in the tub. Later, I found out she was just a player, and had a Thai BF. But I still appreciated the effort she made!

She was 34 yrs old, and the other one about the same age, and they would be 38 now. I have never been treated that way by any girl since then. I think to find a younger lady, who would treat you that way, would be extremely rare.

My first trip to the LOS was in 1985 and my latest was April 2007. In the 22 years in between, i really haven't seen a lot of change in attitudes of the girls regards their interaction with the farang.
Back in 85 there were girls who would wait on your every move so as they could serve you and pamper you if that is what you liked. Additionly, there were girls who were as obnoxious and venemous as the worst of the girls you will find today. This phenomonen appears to me at least, to have stayed constant throughout the last 22 years of visiting LOS.
These observations are not only related to bar girls but also Thai girls in general. I just really haven't seen any dramatic character changes in the last 22 years apart from the run of the mill changes that fit most categories of people. Things such as being busier with their lives and therefore having less time for small talk and frivolities and the fact that the world is a much smaller place now with the internet, sattelite media and bigger faster planes all contribute to makeing the farang, less of a novelty.
I also don't agree with the sentiment that the girls have finally worked out that we (farangs) are soft or stupid and that they don't have to pamper us to get our money. I hate to shatter the illusions of some, but many of the girls have thought of us as soft and stupid for decades.
In my opinion, if there is a notable change in the girls attitudes towards us (which i haven't seen) it would be no more of a change than is evident in all walks of life as time goes by. I remember my old man would bring mum flowers or a present every Friday, wouldn't swear in front of her and opened the car door for her and other little things like that, but that just isn't something i would see as a priority in my approach to a relationship. The Thai girls are no different to anybody else, time will change the attitudes of all.
In April, i met girls who would have done anything for you and saw others that would have slit your throat rather than say g'day to you. In my opinion, if you want to be pampered and treated like a "king" (not my word) then you can still find that just about anywhere in LOS, but you will also come across some that will treat you like a farang that is paying a prostitute for sex and will simply provide the service and get out of there to find the next customer.
Same same in 85...Same same anywhere in the world.

No, because the tradition of Thai culture for many centuries is for the woman to treat her man very special and make him feel really good, and for a Thai woman to take pride and satisfaction in her ability to do so.

That is one of the things that some of us think is just awesome about Thai culture, and Asian cultures in general.

But, they are losing their appreciation for their tradition, and being sold Western values of treating men badly, and wanting the man to do everything for them, and entertain them. They are very gradually being changed into the same kind of women like the farangs are, who we went to LOS to get away from! Thirty years from now, there may be little or no difference in the way Thai women treat men, from the way farang women treat men. And at the rate things are going, it could happen a lot sooner than that.

BTW, from what I've seen, Ao treats you pretty damn well!

Just playing devil's advocate here as I actually lean towards your own position but the flip side of the situation talked about is that the guy is paying all the bills, taking care of the family, etc.

I do wonder if there's not a common factor of guys having had divorces or messy western relationships coming down in preference of this side. I think we do have it pretty inbalanced in the west, generalising here but there are plenty of women who really don't bring anything to the table other than their pussy.
