4 of us walked in just before 1am. We hadn't even got our drinks before the police came in, music went down and all the girls traipsed off into the back, got changed and went outside. We were still served the drinks but told it was closing. 10 to 15 minutes later a few girls came back in to see if customers were still in...most had gone. Sounds like some of them were drugtested because one said she'd had a peepee test.

You sure you got the number right Bramston??? to my knowledge, normal small bars pay around 1500bht for all the above, so personally would be suprised if even a largish bar on Bangla paid 60k, never asked anyone on Bangla, so not saying you are wrong, as I do not know for certain. Anyone else heard a figure this high??

I got back yesterday, and 2am closing was in force in most sois off Bangla. There are however still places away from Bangla you can continue drinking much later.

How many people got SMSs from BGs last night. Hilarious -I know bars are going to be closed by the fact that I get a couple of SMS saying "Miss you..blah blah blah" . Probably mass text these messages working on the law of averages that 1 of us is going to text back.

The owners have a few businesses around patong......so maybe this is for all of them. The figure given to me was mentioned away from the bar scene( i wasn't p*ssed at the time) and it was at the time when the king's sister passed away(loud music). I will try and check on my next visit.

They used to when I first came here and for many many years before that bar did open in the afternoon (~2pm) - and bars never really had to close either .... with economic progress and development come the rules and laws just to make life a touch less enjoyable and create a gravy train for those who pay to selectively enforce them.

Patong kinda reminds me of the Dire Straights song 'Telegraph Road'.
