Police Crackdown on Patong Bars

As reported in another thread,bars in Kata/Karon were operating normally on Sat night.

MIB on a MB spotted me with a beer in hand,but didn`t stop.

Last week the bars in Soi Tiger and Tiger disco closed around 3 AM. I do not know now as I left the area.

I also think thats a very high amount... Suitable perhaps to a large disco, a gogo group, etc..

I think the 2 - 10 range would be normal bars.. Any owners want to give 'guesses'

Mate - thats the whole point of living here ... flexi rules and regulations and grey areas that allow for personal freedom.

If it was a 'strict' closing time of 2am why bother coming here - not that I like to drink everyday but I want the option - why should have to put up with the whim of some jumped up twat in a uniform to decide that its time to go home. Consider is boiling hot here (>32'C) at sun down - who really wants to sit sweating in a bar at 7pm when by 11pm its cooled off enough to enjoy. FFS even in Singapore you dont have this nonsense.

You know all too well if they 'strict' close all the bars at 2am - the streets are filled with FL's and pissed up tourists pissing in doorways and completely unregulated alcohol sales from the eski sellers - its a disgrace to treat tourists like this and about time Thailand had a wake up call.

ThaiCam, just out of curiousity how many trips have you had to LOS?

So you think being closed early some days and staying open other days and not knowing what is going on where is personal freedom? I would think it's the opposite with not knowing what you can do one day to the next.

Every place has rules and nothing is wrong with it if everyone knows. Keeping something standard I think is best. Seems to work ok in BKK and Pattaya but now everyone is complaining here. Nobody would be having a problem with it if 2am was the norm.

Some people just like to complain about any change. It is what it is and if it ends up being 2am all the time, oh well. If you can't get enough drinking in by 2am, then grab your bottle and drink at home.

Many small bars away from Bangla are open as long as they have customers. They turn off the signs and music at 2 am but continue serving until 6am if there is the demand. Not sure how Tiger Disco can get away with a 4am close when Taipan closes at 2.

Just a Few Updates

New Mc Donalds turn right bottom of bangla rd about 2 minutes walk , half the time walking as turning left at bottom of bangla road.

Most bars will be open after 2.30 am if there is customers in there.

No police checks for about 3 weeks, maybe the overtime and lose of tea money not seeing any policemen in bangla late night.

went to safari last night.

not been for one year.

police van out side but still open at 3.30am,

nearly had an accident a few times.

music playing but no night anywhere.

if your a newbie i knew where most was but nearly had a accident due to no lights anywhere.

also inside, i know where the ladyboys go in bangla go now.

some stupid twat tried to charge me 50 baht just park the car outside, then i said do'nt be silly he said 20 baht then said i''ll see manager tommow he said ok.

last time i'll go there again or say to anyone to go there.

Quite a few, but I learn a lot of new things all the time from reading here. Most of the time what I read here matches what I see for myself, but not always. The way I figure it, once you realize that it's all a giant amusement park, with everyone trying to make money off the tourists, it all makes perfect sense. I'll add that if you get away from Patong and the other tourist places, the rest of the country seem very different - just ordinary people living their lives.

I guess I'm just more forgiving than some other people here. I wonder how many people here have read that book "Money Number One"? It's toned down so as to not offend anyone, but it says much of what I'm trying to say (but it says it much better than I know how to say things).

I'll shut up, and let this go back to the closing times of bars. I guess that's still 2am now from what I'm reading, but officially it's 1am? I won't be back there for four more weeks. It seems to me that while the bars close at 2, 3, or whatever, Patong keeps going until a few hours before daybreak.

Does it appear to be a bit more relaxed these days? I made a rare trip up to Safari this weekend and they were still open --- with a decent crowd --- when I left at 4, and no MiBs in sight.

I believe also Seduction stayed open until about 3.

Not really, my info stated that crackdown from May 1st, so time yet.

Info is also that deals with MIB will not be possible.

Looks like its a bit relaxed, music still stop 02 but there is no hurry to empty or close the bar quickly. So between 2 or 3 seems OK to close the bar, for me has been around 2.30.

I came to your bar a few times in my last 2 visists Geir and not once did I get "touted". The only time it happened, was when I was with Dingos, Iltis and a mate of Iltis (Daniel I think) and one of the touts questioned one of the others. A simple "no thanks" was all that was given and the guy moved away.

As I said earlier, I don't really agree with some of their tactics, but I don't think it's as bad as some people are trying to make out.
