Quiet in Patong?... I just confirm my flight booking today. So where would be the most unquiet place for me to have my beer??... It's not like I'm going for a party or sumthing like that... I'm gonna help some frens there, so it's nice to have a beer with some atmosphere after a hard day work.

just got mail from condor and travelchannel.de

travelchannel.de doesn´t sell tickets to thailand any more in the near future,
condor, the german wood-class charter, cancelled all flights to Phuket from Frankfurt and Munich until November 2005.

You saying that theres NOT a lul in business ?? Everyone else I see and talk to seems to feel its pretty rough for high season..

I was attemtping to point out that in the last year or so it has been a common theme that the 'bar scene' (in Patong and elsewhere) appears to be being targetted by the social order campaign with time closure issues and noise level statements..

Then add in the changing demographic of projects like Jungceylon and the attempt towards 'quality tourists' (that I dont feel benefits the local economy in the way it is hoped but thats just me)...

Then add in that there is now a chance to make major design changes to the town (talk of a rail system and changes to the beach zoning).. Given these trends I can see a possibility that the bar scene will not be encouraged..

I have no vested interests either way.. Just speaking my thoughts out loud.

That seems to be the big problem tintin.The big travel companies only see the short term picture and then make a long term decision.Crazy!!
But if you are determined to travel to LOS there is always a way to find a flight ,and hotel rooms don't seem to be a problem in Phuket at the moment.

I was reflecting on the inaccuracies, e.g.

The thems of saying that the place is completely empty, bored BG's etc... its crap, yes it quiet but not that bad, thing tend to pick up about 11.30 at the moment. It was also noticable last night many new faces in Patong

On a more macro level, I agree with you about trying to change the demographics and making patong even more family orientated, but

Go anywhere in Thailand, there is a BG scene, even outside the tourist areas. This is the SE Asian way, do we really believe they can just eradicate a culture (whether u like it or not) just to try and attract some foreign investment and tell the world that ooooh we are morally clean............jeez what a crock of shit, our morals and Asian morals are worlds apart, we will need to chang hundreds of millions of peoples outlook on life

If those interested in going, just fly down to Singapore.. Thai Airways is still having flight to phuket, about 4 times a week. It's only 1h30min to phuket...
