Slotting quite nicely into the category of 'sex pest' I didnt think I was able to help you. However, last trip, me, Irish Jonny and a few other lads went into Phuket Town, and ended up at a place called the TimberHut.

It is a very nicely done out bar, with live music (western and thai), DJ when the band arent playing and a generally good atmosphere.

It was NOT a pick up joint for the girls (although im sure if you looked hard enough you could get it). It was more of a place where 'normal' thai men and women went.
I really had a good night, away from all the 'hello sexy man' rubbish you get sick of.

It might only be one bar, but its a start .

OK, I know many of you LOOOVE the scene here, but frankly I hate it. I have lived in Bangkok but am moving to Phuket and hoping desperately for improvement.

What I hate...it is completely geared toward men and completely geared toward a "sex scene". Be it bar girls, *****s, lesser wives, what have you...the scene is tainted by girls who seek some kind of gain and men who desperately seek asian pussy...even if they know the girl is near to vomit inside but smiling on the outside...oh what we do for money!

It would not bother me if that went on, I lived in the red light district in Amsterdam and could care less what body parts girls wanna sell and what men want to buy...that is your thing. What bothers me is the lack of the "normal" scene and how the "me so horny girls" as I call them, make their way, and in turn so do all you Johns, into EVERY place but the most exclusive.

In Bangkok every after hours place has *****s there or bar girls. And the Thai, men who run them and women who work at them, are definitely not too fond of western women. I have friends that have been asked if they were ladyboys, I have been insulted, asked if I was a western prostitute, told I couldn't come in places because I would detract from the girls business etc.

I also like Thai men so I would also not even mind meeting normal, not on the game, thai men. But the big thing I want, is just bars where there are no girls with motives to gain anything and no men there to be given fake attention. I want to go to a nightclub where loads of cute young...perhaps even mostly western, guys are and girls are enjoying themselves on holiday or as residents, and just dance and pull and do everything the way it usually plays out rather than how the "scene" plays out. It makes me so sad as I feel like Thailand is for couples, families, or single men and I feel like I am in this totally left out demographic that is actually not even liked by those on the scene if I go out.(other than their fascination with my tits and the constant...aaaaawww sueeeeey sueeeeey I get).

I am not saying this because I don't get attention etc, I get attention so that is not the issue, my issue is that I want to keep it real and not be among the whole scene all the time. I don't like the scene, find it nasty and really naff, and just want some normal nights out.

Another place, with a "clean" reputation similar to TimberHut is Jammin' (Bangkok Rd) [like TimberHut it has a live Rock'n Roll band]. These places have gone in and out and in (and out) of favour a number of times. I don't know the current status. Its best to asks some of the younger Thai's, once one arrives. One may have to ask a few, before one will find someone who will give an up to date answer.

Some more thoughts.

As noted in some above posts, Timber Hut (Yaowarat Rd) and Jammin' (Bangkok Rd, Opposite Yee Teng Complex) have lasted longer than most places (although they have been in and out of favour at times). I have also seen Timber Hut refered to as Timber Rock at times.

I've read that after Timber Hut closes down (at around 1am), some of the crowd move to a place called T2 Disco. T2 closes down around an hour later (2 am or so), so one doesn't gain much by this shift. I don't know if T2 is even still open.

Other places in Phuket Town I have heard mentioned are: Climax (Phuket Town - Ratsada road) and Spark Pub [also possibly called Sparks Night Club] (Phuket Town - Ratsada road), Kor Tor Mor (Down the road from Robinson's department store - 41/5 Chanacharoen Road), Seua Saming (83-85 Thanon Yaowarat) and XVI (further along Ratsada Road, opposite Salvatore's Italian restaurant) and BeBop (on Takuarpa Rd).

Again, I can't say if these places are now "dead", or "alive", nor if there are some nights better than others. Again, one needs to tap into local expertise to find which places are hot, and which one's should be avoided 'cause they are no longer popular.

You’re living in the wrong place/country me thinks....
Just to keep it short & sweet, you have two options:
You can try and change the way Thailand lives, be a 21st century’s Dox Quixote, lobby the Thai government to make prostitution illegal (hang on a sec… haven’t they done that already?? Hhhhmmm….) or alternatively you can just accept it the way it is, with its pros and cons.
And if by any chance you choose the second option and calm down a little… who knows, maybe you too can get laid. No offence meant of course

You can understand if you take a look at what is really being said, I don't believe most men would turn away a shag from a farang girl, but what we are really saying is that we wouldn't want to waiste the time and energy getting one into bed as for relationships...forget about it.

So I ask this question, how many western women have you lived with? For how long was your longest relationship?

There is a huge difference between being with a thai woman and a western woman, why? Because they have been given the values that western women once had, that it is ok to serve a man, that there is pride from keeping a happy home their ideals are if you keep the man happy you will find happiness for yourself, the man is the head of the family and is to be shown the respect that is due him.

They do not need to voice there opinion every second of the day, having the ability to keep there mouth shut. They have the advaneforum.xxxe of knowing how to let a man be a man and they do so without the constant *****ing session that the majority of western women dish out.

Now this is not to say that they do not have there way of getting what they want, nor does this mean that every relationship is a piece of cake...it just means that a great many of us would not give a western woman a second thought.

Plain and simple if you know what its like to be treated like a king, then I serious doupt it came from a westerner woman...Sure there are exceptions...just like people win the lottery...it is the exception not the rule.

So I have no problem making the statment that I would never be with another western woman...EVER.

For the record I have never been divorce, so I am not bitter...I am simply experienced.

Before I go out, I wanna set the record a bit straight. It seems the offense I have caused is as follows:

1) I want to know where I can go to enjoy myself without being around the bg scene.

You that object so heavily to this seemingly cannot fathom anyone would want to avoid this scene unless they hate bg's and are judging everyone.

2) I brought up the reality of HIV and sex in Thailand, partly because I had my own scare.

You that object so heavily see this as an attack on thai women and the bg scene.

It will be interesting to soo if Eurogirls views change at all after being down here a bit.. If my experiences were limited to Bangkok and Pattaya's 'scene' verses say Phuket and Samui it would be easier to have different views..

Last night looking in seadragon a good 50% of the bars had couples and even families with young children in, all this next to the BG's..

LivinLOs, I was a stripper, my judgements are not that harsh as people seem to think and I am not a prude or a judgemental western girl with one single opinion.

TinTin I also know many of the guys here are great. I do not think less of anyone for going off with bgs, just a scene that I cannot find as entertaining, so again I know your nice blokes. I also said in another post that in the west prostitution is paying for sex alone whilst in Thailand there is more to it, so I do understand that too.

Tarzan and Geespot just hate me so there is no point countering anything there...

Tarzan, I started my post saying I----as in me personally my taste---hate the scene. I also explained why and then asked my question. I am not making judgements on everyone else but as many of you have done in the many posts I have read, stating my preferences and asking for advice.

The problem is that most of you also have only experienced women who are indifferent or opposed because they are "left in the dust" and "jealous" etc. I just really wanna hang out and chill and that is why it is something I have asked the board. Perhaps they should start a ladies section since the men here seem really defensive and really unable to understand this side of things, even when I am NOT making a judgement!

Yes this place is a Disneyland for guys (but the rides are better) and I can see how this could be rough and possibly competative to a girl living here.. Lots of posts on other forums from women living in Asia who hate it, whether thats cause the 'power' they had over guys in the west is gone or not is hard to say.. Back in the west the girl does the selection, out here its the guys, you are basically experiencing how friendly it can be for a guy back home..

Theres venues you can go to where the P4P scene is either not so noticable or low level but this is Asia and you will find pretty much anywhere the selection roles are reversed.. Looking for cute euro guys to hit on you ?? You better be very cute and willing to please.. Of course if you have funds finding a thai Boyfriend should be a non issue..

Plenty of bars around that you can go to where there is no girl hassle, I would be happy to make you some kind of list if you arte ready to have an open mind and try to have fun, if you only want to look down on Thai girls and moralize well you will always stay bitter.. The disco's are pick up joints but still, so what, enjoy yourself and have fun..

to be treated as an equal i suppose, in thailand the girls treat you very well but they dont treat you as an equal they treat you as a superior. to me this is unnerving sometimes and puts me off. i would rather have a girl who thinks of herself as equal to me rather than me as her boss.

it all comes down to choice in the end of the day but reading some of the posts it sounds like some people prefer women to act like slaves and not respected human beings.

Thanks for your response, and it REALLY is not a question of getting laid, I have no problem doing that, I want the rest of the night out though...just good old normal fun minus "the scene".

In fact, I think Thailand should legalise prostitution. It is so rampant and wide-spread anyway and happens right there in the open everywhere you turn. By legalising it they would protect everyone involved much like the Dutch government does.

My problem, and I will give you an example, is that there is NO alternative for single people who just want to go out have fun and meet. My example, my friend came to visit me, we went to a beach resort near Pattaya. We went to a nightclub at a hotel after having a really miserable time the night before because everywhere we went we were surrounded by BG's and prossies(I see no difference BTW). In the nightclub were tons of "me so horny girls" (as we now call them) and frightened young western boys who just wanted a night out, and of course, the old fat farangs that follow the girls wherever they go. I can tell you not all men are into the scene and I met many guys here who beg me to pretend I am their gf so they dont get harrased etc. I do not care if this goes on, but can't there be some places that are JUST for people who want a night out...no hassles...no sex for pay?

Clearly it is my prob, but I think, judging from what I have seen and guys I have met, a lot of guys also would like that, particularly the younger better looking ones who do not NEED these services but want to pull on their own merits the old fashioned way. Please tell me there is some club at some hotel or ANYTHING that resembles normal going out in Phuket? I am well open to suggestions. Also looking for a pub to just hang out in and watch footie and drink some strongbows(minus having to listen in stereo to a chorus of "Mista Mista 500 baaaht everyting you waaaant")!!

PS Believe it or not they even harrass me. I can't tell you the amount of times I have been surrounded and stuck listening to: oooooh sueeeey sueeey you like girl too or you want boy? I know boy for you!
