Now I may be different than everybody else on this board in the respect that music is a big part of my daily life. Around the house/apartment music is always on and its very good for mood setting, motivation etc..

Likewise, ever been in a Soi when there is no music at all?....

The thing with the music in Soi Eric currently is that from 2230-2400 and from 0030-0200 the bars are required to have girls dancing.

Now from 2200-2230 normal diverse western music is played, starting with Tina Turner's "Simply the Best" (What a misnomer)..

Then at 2230, thai disco music comes on, and if you havent a clue what that is, then its a background drumbeat thats superimposed on whatever music the DJ has at hand which is annoying because it never stops, but keeps playing over the next hour and a half.
Then a half hour respite, while the girls get a break from midnight till half past, then here we go again, another hour and a half of the same crap..

Like Tanman said, it begs the question who is the music for?....

Customers or girls?
The customers are the ones paying money for drinks, ladydrinks, barfines..

Like I said the girls will dance no matter what, because its a rule for the bars, so they will just have "to suck it up"...
But really it cant be that bad, because in the other Soi's there is western music playing and girls dancing there too....

If Eric should happen to read this, I say the change the music style to accommodate the customers.

Those of us that go out, quite regularly, like 3-4 times a week, its really annoying.

And Dodger, Im not dizzing the entire Soi, just the music style the DJ is playing.

Actually it was Soi Sea Lion which I made up as I forgot it's just called Soi Lion and I was getting it mixed up with Soi Sea Dragon etc etc

Not to worry.............There wasn't really a prize anyway, I made that up as well.

As a newbie to the forum but not to Patong....Hi to all!

I would agree with a few BM that the reason for visiting the Soi's is to meet the BG and friends. I would normally talk to pals,friends..etc regardless of the music.

If the Thai music get's the girls going, which in return gets me and fellow drinkers going, then thats a better atmosphere for everybody and the bars.

I knew that because you do it every time, you have a Soi Sea Lion fixation!!! normally I put it down to an excess consumption of beer sea tigers!!!!

Funny when you get a something wrong like that and always from then on keep calling it wrong?? I do the same with peoples names some times, get it wrong first time and then never seem to be able to get it right, same as me always thinking Keld is from Holland??? no idea why??

I can honestly say I don't know what the music is like, it's just background mush to me. The problem I have sometimes is with the volume as I am slightly deaf in both ears (Too much time spent in places where things go bang!) and have difficulty hearing what other BM's are saying.

Other than that, if they put anything on that gets the girls making that little "Yip Wheeeeeeee" noise and jigging with it, then it's good with me!

Why not walk down the end of the Soi and give him a gentle poke in the chest and point to the CD (Record, whatever!) you want playing. He could be on commission from the record company! Probably...............!!

No Elvis though, that just makes Pabs hit the poles and the poles don't like it!

I agree the music isnt good to my ears, could be a lot better. I just say its difficult to please everyone as everybody have different taste. We dont even play Thai songs these days, that the girls like.

you going and a good mix of Thai songs inbetween, I liked it.

As much as it pains me to even remotely agree with the Dodgy Dane Keldster, after a 'quiet' night in Soi Eric with San Mig Lights with some kind of green fruit in them (Yeuk) a bottle of water or two (I'd had a dodgy burger earlier) and 27 De'ath Noirs. The music was total pants, rubbish, naff etc.

I must admit that being slightly sobererer than normal I could pick out the individual downy blond fine hairs on the tight dark brown tummy of the dancer at the pole as she did that wiggley, shake, shake, push out, pull back, to the side, wiggle, wiggle, another wiggle then a shake yer booty thing she does as she smiles and winks at you and makes that "Buy me a drink" sign with her hand.

There was also a tall lady, loitering at MTB from Cobra Bar.

Which was nice.

Sorry, anyway, yes, I am beginning to agree with Laseremup in that the music (or the DJ) needs something doing about it (or him!)

Must admit the music is still crap, but two dj's in soi eric have quit the tall dj and the new lesbo dj because maybe me complaining the last 5 months and other customers , bar owners moaning about the music but when the dj's wants to play better music the soi owner is still living in the past.

now i know why there have been so many dj's come and gone from the soi.

To tell the truth I enjoyed most of the music in Soi Eric most nights, made a difference from all the other Sois, which seem to play the same music. But agreed they need to play different music sometimes and not the same same.
