Personally I prefer the earlier closing time so I can enjoy breakfast (what's that they say) Tai Chi at sunrise and I only wish they would open the shops earlier than 11am.

At the end of the night on bangla, I know they're going to ask for 200thb. So, rather than argue or try to bargain (never works that late), I say to them..."No, not 200thb. I give you 150thb, if you drive good...I give 50bht tip."

I agree with u trent , as a regular tourist to Thailand in past 8 yrs & particuly to Patong in past 5 years, 2.00am would be fine, just have to go out a bit earlier, as long as it is consistant with all bars, so it is fair to all bar owners not just those who are in MIB pockets
