That was in last November, my first trip. I was not as such watching just happened to be passing by with my wife and friends and saw it going on. It was no big deal, just a good few people were a bit pissed off as it was a bit of bully boy tactics. Although knowing a bit more about lb's now, I see they can well look after themselves.:rofl:

I was in, LOS, in march. lol, thats when my brother and I seemeded to steal the table. hehe, only a couple of nights. But then it was funny,, watchingn the LB giving us the stare down, wanting us to get off.

I never hesitated. but my brother would stay for a few songs.

I think I might have seen you guys...I was there in March and sometimes spent an hour or two people watching in one of the beer bars opposite Soi Crocodile.

Anyway, I did notice a couple of young guys up dancing with the LBs and thought they were either very brave or stupid but the LBs didn't seem to be too bothered...still don't think I'd try it but fair play if you did !

If you walk down Bangla to the beach road, and turn left, it's about five or six blocks down, on the left. It's close to the McDonalds that's also in that area. Speaking of McDonalds, I think they're building a new one right near the end of Bangla - at least that's what the guys working there tell me it's going to be.

Two things to remember nowadays - always make a mental note of where you're going to run to if the rain starts unexpectedly, and always have a plastic baggie to put your camera and phone into in case you can't get out of the rain quickly enough.


Things did seem to keep on going very, very late last night. There were still lots of people hanging out on the streets at 4:30am. I'm not sure what time most of the bars officially closed, but several were still quite open way late, although the lights and music had been turned off.

I remember my last ride in one very well even though it was nearly 2 years ago. We got to my hotel and the fare was 150baht. I gave him 200baht. He said he didn't have change! I didn't have any either. So he ended up getting what he wanted...I couldn't be asred to go looking for change so told him to forget it and keep it. Knowing how they operate I've always thought since that he really did have change but was trying it on.

Seems Thaicam has never had these sort of things happen to him. I think he has but didn't realise it.

I come to Phuket to party and have a good time.
I wish to stay untill the morning but I am forced to go to sleep by 2.00am.

And yes, for myself party time starts around 7.00pm not at midnight so to me it is no argument to start going out earlier because establisments are closing earlier.
IMHO it is not fair to target one group of people, those who want to party. Not to mention about the bar- and other dependent business owners who are suffering.
I don't understand. If someone wishes to go back home at 2.00am, he can !
Even when bars closes at 4 or 5.00 am. So what's the whole point ?


By the way, I'm not a teenager but almost 50 and I will definetely go elsewhere if 2.00 am closing time will remain enforced because I still feel like a teenager in a place like Patong !

I am a non-alcoholic, I just like to party ! Is that a crime ???

Well --- and again, this is just my sense --- but I still think this recent trend affects the overall nightlife. Both in terms of the “energy” and the income for the bars / discos. A casual stroll down soi Tiger at say 11 would indicate that it is “down” from last year. In any case, my general sense started developing way before the latest crackdown, and it’s likely to carry into next year IMO.

And the winners here are the “hidden” after hour places. The ones that most tourists would not readily be aware of, but would still get a disproportionate amount of traffic due to the other places being shut down. But of course, places like Safari is suffering immensely. My point is --- correct or not --- that the overall nightlife is down. And I honestly think this is a ripple effect from the inconsistent practices going back a few years.

Too bad that one has to seek out places these days to get a drink / fun instead of just parking your but at any given stool at any given hour.
