A friend off my brother called late last night. He told my brother that the bars on Bangla still had to close at 2. But he also told they went to (i thought it was) Tiger. Not downstairs but up in disco till about 4.15 am........!!!

I was just wondering, does that mean disco's have different rules ($$$) again. And what about Tai Pan and Baya?

It's just that no one seems to know what is happening long term- and that is what is off putting. Tonight is dry, but a lot of mates didn't know-so had plans for tonight. Poor bar owners- crack down was at height of high-season and now deal is done, just at start of low season TIT

Theres a new maccas about halfway between bangla and soi dongtan..

The beach Rd BK is way up near the south end.. Maybe 3/4'ers of the way from bangla to the dolphin bar area..

Does the 2.00am closure applies to all establishments, i.e. Tai Pan, Tiger Disco, Baya ... ?
I can only hope that the rule will be weakened after another 3 weeks.

Hey Geir, I don't get it. One of us is a bit confused. If you own a bar there, you probably know far more about Patong than I do, but when did I say anything about complaining about being asked about a ping-pong show or anything else? All I said is that those people doing these kinds of things don't bother (upset) me.

Maybe it's my choice of wording? I meant "bother" as meaning making me upset or angry. I didn't mean it to say that they don't try to sell me on going to those places. The cigarette people, the touts, the girls, the tailors - they're ALL trying to get the (rich) tourists to buy something, me included. Unless they know you live and work there, they probably try the same thing with you too, right?



I'm not sure what it is I'm supposed to be learning - am I supposed to get upset about things that right now I don't let bother me? I think the better answer is to not let any of this stuff bother you - just remind yourself it's Thailand, and things are different. If you want me to "learn" how terrible a place it is, well, if it's so bad, why are YOU still there?

Was out in Singers last nite- strictest, boringest city in Asia my backside!!! Wall to wall ******s in Geylang from about 8 and not a copper in site. 30 secs fm hotel was a great choice and nice displays. Choice slimmer the rest of the day but there were a few knocking around all day and I was propositioned this morning at 9am- Suits me Sir! In KL tonite grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

If thaicam is a know-it-all, he'd have said things properly, and he wouldn't be given such a hard time for using the locally incorrect term for the vehicle that takes many people from the airport to Patong. For that matter, he wouldn't be saying diddly-squat about America, if others didn't make such a big deal about him calling that vehicle a "limo", which was a meaningless term to him, (just a common usage name in America), which seems to have upset some other people.

As I recall, it was thaicam (me) saying how he enjoyed Patong so much, and all these other people telling how he was getting ripped off just like everyone else, but didn't know it. My comment back then was, and still is, if people were/are so upset with the place, why be there? I think most people here (me included) think it's still a great place to visit.
