'Liza' has been in Patong as long and probably longer than I have 12+ years. She has owned several bars and none of them ever had a rep for ripping people off. Sure it does happen, even to old hands like me. Example, took a mate to Queen of Hearts on Tiger a few months back, stayed for two beers, mate buys two or three girls a lady drink, we get stuck with a bill for 15 (yes 15) lady drinks. I'd been drinking there regularly since it opened and taking friends there too. Consequence for them, I will never go there again and never miss an opportunity to let people about this experience, just like now.

well of course. i'm not gonna argue with you. but you see a beautiful girl you want to go talk to her etc and this is what usually happens. so getting up and going is a bit lame so you have to think of other things to avoid it, its just a pain in the **** and i dont want to be made to feel like i'm being cheap by saying no to buying drinks for people who i have no interest in talking to. id rather not be asked and had pressure put on me in the first place. i've seen the girl, started talking to her sat down etc made myself at home, so getting up and going just because i'm being badgered to buy drinks means either A. getting up and leaving. B saying no and made to feel cheap. or C. BF'ing the girl right away and taking her with you. as if it wasnt for the girl i wouldnt have gone there i can go to a much better bar with better beer and a more relaxed environment (non BG bar.. excl MTB). i dunno, if i'm interested in finding a girl i find it much easier in a club (anywhere in the world, inc UK) and not bars. both bar in UK and bar in LOS are a pain JMO. if i want to relax with a beer in LOS or UK i'll go to a pub/bar, but have no interest in looking for or taking a girl. never works out for me 5555.

i couldn't care less about what her friends think and what they think about me, if you like a girl get her away from her friends because she is obliviously going to try and keep you in her bar,(nothing wrong with that, thats the income) so her friends get ld's, it's not being cheap charlie and there is nothing wrong with buying ld's but i dont feel any obligation to buy ld's just to make her happy, i will buy ld's any time if I FEEL LIKE DOING IT not because some puts a trip on me to make me feel guilty if i don't.

I would suggest that the BG would have had a Plan B.. ie another customer somehere .. later in the night. Seems very odd that she would knock back a LT especially in a quiet Soi.

a bit of an old post but a good read. OP .alot of different takes on it, but to me just a grab for cash..no more ..join the club. I wouldnt feel that upset I once bar fined a bg very late 1 nite and got her to guide me to the toilet when I got out she was gone,,I couldnt find the zipper on my pants let alone wich bar she came from..

OP chalk it up to experience...next time you BF a bar girl make sure she knows what's expected of her!

As for "Liza" she does not treat her staff very well and she lost the whole lot a month or two ago when they all moved to one in Soi Eric so all there now are at least newbies to her particular bar. Her father died, she closed her bar for the day of his funeral but made all the staff go to his funeral even though none of them knew him and if they didn't go they were told not to return to the bar.

I've never asked a girl back to my room, they've always asked me.

No I do not make that statement to sound like I'm irresistable, because I am most definately not. I always chat, explore if I like the person, if we have the right chemistry, ie laugh, have fun together etc.

I'm also not telling anyone else how they should act or how it will be best for them, we are all different.

I've never soi crawled, I always knew where I was going to drink and that in one of the places I'd pre-chosen or decided on a whim to go on to, is where I'd find a girl.

I personally preferred it this way as for me, it kept the illusion of the girlfriend experience, more so that the prostitute one. Yes I liked fooling myself with this little personal deception.

I've never barfined a girl I hadn't spent some time with getting know, I do not like seeing this, a guy entering a bar not speaking or interacting with the girl and just before he goes, asking to pay a particular girls barfine and take her home??? ever wonder why these guys get a starfish?? or get ripped off?

I've never had to go to extremes of sexual marathons and multiple girls in one day when on holiday, as some guys seem to want to tell us all about, because I had girlfriends back in my home country, sex was not such a rarity and I enjoyed the company of the girl I was with for that night and following morning.

This reminds me of the worst, and only really, time I got taken was when I was a newbie in Patts.
Thought I was oh so clever at having gotten one of the Russian dancer's numbers from that euro strip joint on walk' street. The one with the window booth.
Anyways, next night we meet, she insists on Japanese food, we end up at this nice restaurant, I think it's all going great, then the bill comes (4200B), and she stood up and just walked out without a word.
Still makes me smile to this day..

I have always had the approach that the girl would have to make the 'move'. Then even then, if they ask for a silly fee or drops hints that they are not interested. I wont take them home.

Could be why i hardly ever bar fine a girl.

Been to Liza's bar 3 times last December. I was curious because i knew the reputation of the bar (carefully described here in older threads, and oh yes i know how to use the 'search' button). Left the bar with twins the 2nd and 3rd night. No barfine, because i paid many lady drinks. I think the guy in the OP was just unlucky.

Some time back, I remember some debates about whether it is best to just sort of hang out at a bar or disco, and see who comes on to you, and go with one who shows an enthusiastic interest in you. The "let them come to you" approach as opposed to spotting the one who really appeals to you, and trying you luck with coming on to her.

The "let them come to you" approach puts you very much in the driver's seat. The "you try to win her over" approach has you currying her favor, and gives her more leverage over you, if she is inclined to be that way.

So, when it works, the first approach clearly puts you in a much more favorable position. Unless you are one of a small minority of guys, who wants an "in-charge" woman to take control of you, then the first approach is much better for most guys. BUT....ONLY IF IT WORKS for you.

So I tried the first approach. Every time I ever tried that approach in LOS(except with non-BGs), I always got women that I never really especially wanted to be with in the first place. Given the choice of being with a gal, who I am not very attracted to, or taking the second approach, and finding a gal who I am attracted to, and having to deal with the more difficult position of winning her over, or playing her game, then I will take the second approach.

The first approach works best for guys who are good at attracting women, because they are good-looking, a big spender, or have a certain fun or charming personality. That leaves most of us out! 555....

OR it works well for guys, who are easy to please, who find all TGs who are small, slim, and smiling to be quite attractive. In the long run, guys who are easy to please. are way ahead in the game!
